Rahnsleben family researcher Barbara Bischoff, in an email May 2006 wrote: The Ransleben Family Tree begins with MATTHIAS I RAHNSLEBE (Rahnschlebe, Ran?leben), his first son MATTHIAS II (Thies) married first Berlin Spandau 1637 Susanna Braun, she died 1641 and he married second Maria Rosenfeld. The second son of Matthias I named JACOB RANSCHLEBEN (Ran?leben). He married 1647 Berlin/Spandau Susanna Nysicke. From these both descended all known Ransleben in Germany, USA, Canada and Brasil. In Germany are living only still 9 families, in USA much more. The origin of the name perhaps we can found in a little village near Berlin named RADENSLEBEN. The name developed from Radens-, Radensch-, Rathensleben to Ransch-, Rahnsch-, Rahns-, Ran?-, Ranss-, Rantzleben in the 17th century to Ransleben today.
