The Post and Telegraph Department have lost an old and popular officer by the death of Mr Edwin Da Costa, late post and telegraph master at Townsville, who died on the 24th instant after a long and painful illness. Mr Da Costa was born in Jamaica, and after receiving an education in England, France, and Germany left for Australia on the sailing ship Southampton, arriving in Victoria in 1859. After two years on the Murray River Downs obtaining "colonial experience," he came to Queensland, and entered into squatting pursuits. In 1865 he gave up station life and entered the service of the Postal Department at Brisbane. Three years later he was appointed postmaster at Dalby where he remained for eleven years being transferred as postmaster to Rockhampton in 1879. After six years' service in Rockhampton he was appointed to Townsville, and remained there until superannuated in July of the present year. At the time of his retirement he was senior post and telegraph master in the service of the Commonwealth.

STOREY, Henry Innes (I5428)

17062 Oddly, called sixth child Charles Robert and seventh child Robert Charles which causes considerable confusion.

NUNN, Robert (I4947)

17063 Oddly, he is named Charles Robert and his younger brother is Robert Charles. Causes much confusion but checks out from the available records.
In a document that details the achievements of his youngest son Paul, Charles Robert Nunn is said to have emigrated to the United States because he was a dissenter from the Church of England and embraced Baptist theology
The family arrived in New York, on 16 Jun 1851. Details about Emily Nunn's career say she was one of 11 children. Seven children are found born in the UK, and three in the US.
Charles became a very successful farmer and was able to give his younger children great educational opportunities.

17064 Of Jessie Menzies Silver, her nephew James Murray Silver wrote:
As a young woman my aunt Jessie taught school in Glasgow. She had three children; the youngest, James Silver Kamester, was decorated for service at Gallipoli as a corpsman in WWI, after that he served in France and was commissioned in the RAF, and finally badly injured in a training crash in England. He became a Doctor (MD) and had his practice in Weston-Super-Mare, near Bristol. He died in 1973.

NUNN, George (I385)

17067 Of the two Sarah Masons born in Suffolk between 1830 and 1835, this is most likely the one who married Philip Nunn:
