Notes |
- Known as Ella, she married Sydney Thomas Barnes in 1942. They divorced and he remarried in 1947 and moved to Sydney.
Around 1990, Ella and my mother took a trip to Perth and on the way back to Rockhampton stayed a night at my place, 22 Yingally Drive, Arana Hills.
Hard to track her on electoral roll as they seem to be two people of same name in Brisbane. In latter years, Ella was at 302 Murray St, Rockhampton which was her parent's home.
The following electoral roll entries could be her as she apparently lived in Brisbane for some time.
1949 -
134 Robertson St, New Farm, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
48 Granville St, West End, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
1954 -
4 Raven St, West End, Queensland, Australia
Cordelia Flats, 43 Cordelia St, South Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
1958 -
55 Wellington St, Wooloowin, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
53 Water St, South Brisbane, Queensland, Australia

BARNES-COOPER
St Andrew's Presbyterian Church provided the setting for the marriage of Miss Mary Eleanor Cooper and Mr Sydney Thomas Barnes, which was celebrated at 6 p.m. last Saturday. The Re. R. H. Noack, B.A., B.D. was the officiating minister.
The bride was given away by her father (Mr T. S. Cooper) and was attended by her sister (Mrs D. Esdale) as matron of honour Mr D. Esdale was best man.
White Robis voile over taffeta fashioned the bride's dainty and becoming ankle-length frock, which had a full skirt with a shaped waistline, a long V neck, and long sleeves forming peaks over her hands. Her Brussels net veil was worn with the halo effect with a pearl spray of arum lilies and cream cactus dahlias, stephanotis, and frangipani, with white ribbon composed the cascade trail bouquet which she carried. As the bride left the church she was presented with a lovely white horseshoe.
The apple green Robis voile frock worn by the matron of honour contrasted prettily with the bride's frock. The full ankle- length skirt featured a shaped waistline, and the bodice had a square neckline and short puffed sleeves. Her apple green tulle waist- length veil was arranged with the halo effect to correspond with the veil worn by the bride, and her shower bouquet comprised shaded pink cactus and charm dahlias and hydrangeas, tied with green ribbons. The bride's mother wore blue Canadian silk with a white stripe, made on slim fitting lines with a slightly full skirt. She added a black and white straw bat and black ac- cessories. The bridegroom's mother chose a blue floral silk with black accessories.
Alter the ceremony the wedding breakfast was held at the home of the bride's parents, 302 Murray Street. When leaving to spend the honeymoon at Yeppoon the bride wore a smart grey seventh heaven frock, made in the shirtmaker style with pintucks and a fitted waistline, and featuring unpressed pleats on the front of the skirt and gathering at the back.
