- OBITUARY R. Sleaford, Sen.
Death occurred at the age of 83* of Mr Robert Arthur Sleaford, sen., a resident of Mt Morgan for the past 32 years.
He arrived in Australia with his family from Lincolnshire, England, at the age of 16 years.
His family lived in Gympie. He followed the timber industry for a number of years.
He then moved to Childers and worked for Mr Dick Hebbard making bricks.
He married at Childers Miss Rovena Elizabeth Hebbard and was then employed by Messrs Gant and Brand on the sugar fields.
In 1908 he moved to Mt Tom, Miriam Vale, and had the care of a dairy for Messrs Gant and Brand.
In 1910 he joined the Railway Department and was stationed at Rosedale, Canoona, Buneru and Mt Morgan.
He was a ganger from 1915 until he retired.
He is survived by a widow and two daughters, Mrs F. Coker (Kabra) and Mrs C. Coker (West Rockhampton) and seven sons, Robert Arthur (Mt Morgan), John Alfred (Kabra), Richard (Roma), James Ernest (Rockhampton), Theodore Claude (Mt Morgan), Arthur Cyril (Mt Morgan) and Percy Reginald (Three Springs, Western Australia). One sister, Mrs C. White, Cribb Street, Milton, Brisbane is still living.
